A letter forms the central part and is created using white paper to shape the letter. 

Then using different quilling techniques the surrounding area is filled in.

What is quilling?

Quilling involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create a decorative designed . The paper is manipulated to create designs on their own or to decorate other objects.

I've taken a plain cotton bag and enhanced it using appliqué.

I've used a squirrel, the shapes are ironed on  and then edged with blanket or plain stitch.

What is applique?

Appliqué is where pieces or patches of fabric in different shapes and patterns are sewn or stuck onto a larger piece to form a picture or pattern. It is commonly used as decoration.
